The Boston Celtics will wrap up their five-game west coast road trip Friday night without wing Josh Richardson. Richardson entered the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols on Friday, as first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Richardson must now quarantine for at least 10 days, or until he returns two negative PCR tests separated by at least 24 hours. He’s already ruled out for Friday night’s game against the Suns – the Celtics’ next game after that will be Monday when they face the Bucks in Boston.
Acquired from the Mavericks via a trade in the offseason, Richardson is averaging 9.7 points per game in 20 games this season. He scored 17 points – one shy of his season-high – Wednesday night against the Clippers.
Friday will be another shorthanded game for the Celtics. In addition to Richardson, they’ll also be without Jaylen Brown (right hamstring tightness) and Bruno Fernando (low back spasms).
