Report: Patriots ‘have been in touch with’ free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr.
Odell Beckham Jr. officially cleared waivers at 4 p.m. on Tuesday. The two-time All-Pro is now officially an unrestricted free agent, and can sign wherever he chooses, whenever he chooses.
The ‘when’ of it all is still a little uncertain. Shortly after the 4 p.m. deadline passes, Josina Anderson reported that Beckham “will take some time” before making a decision.
Beckham is expected to have plenty of options to choose from, including the New England Patriots. According to multiple reports, the Patriots have spoken with Beckham’s representatives. Jeff Howe of The Athletic tweeted Tuesday evening that “the Patriots have been in touch with Odell Beckham Jr.’s camp.”
Other leading potential landing spots for Beckham appear to be Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and New Orleans Saints. Beckham is reportedly looking to go to a playoff contender with a strong coaching staff.
Will the Patriots fit the bill? Whatever happens, it’s clear at this point the Patriots are interested. We should know soon if that interest turns into anything more.
