The Patriots made a pair of roster moves on Tuesday, mainly shuffling their defensive personnel. Linebacker Chase Winovich was placed on IR, and defensive back Myles Bryant was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Winovich suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys, and did not return to the game. The 2019 third-round pick had played in all six games for the Patriots this season recording seven tackles and a QB hit. He was on the field for 19 percent of the team’s total defensive snaps, and 47 percent of of special teams plays. Winovich will now miss at least three games.

Bryant joined the Patriots last year as an undrafted rookie, and was active for nine games recording one interception. He was waived then  signed to the practice squad this summer during final roster cuts, and had previously been elevated for the games against Tampa and Houston.

To fill Bryant’s spot on the practice squad, the Patriots signed kicker Riley Patterson, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Patterson had meet with the Patriots for free agent workouts twice over the past few weeks.

There were also two players in Foxborough on Tuesday for free agent meetings. Nick Thurman, who was with the team from 2019 until training camp this year, was in town, per the league wire. Rookie wide receiver Austin Watkins also met with the team for a workout. Watkins went undrafted this spring out of Alabama-Birmingham, and spent this summer in camp with the 49ers.
