Patriots rule out offensive lineman for Sunday, eight players questionable
Once again, the Patriots will not be at full strength on the offensive line this Sunday. They also have a number of players on both sides of the ball that are listed as ‘questionable.’
On Friday, the team ruled out guard Shaq Mason (abdomen) for Sunday’s game. It will be the second game in a row Mason misses with the injury. In addition to Mason, tackle Isaiah Wynn was not activated off COVID-IR. While he still could be activated on Saturday, players rarely play after not practicing during the week. Cornerback Shaun Wade (concussion) was the only other player ruled out by the team.
The group of eight questionable players includes yet another lineman in tackle Justin Herron (abdomen). Herron was the starting left tackle last week with Wynn out.
Two running backs are questionable for the game as well. Damien Harris (ribs) missed practice Wednesday and was limited Thursday and Friday, while J.J. Taylor (groin) was added to the report on Friday.
Four of the five remaining questionable players are on the defensive side of the ball in linebackers Kyle Van Noy (groin) and Ronnie Perkins (ankle) and defensive backs Jalen Mills (hamstring) and Jonathan Jones (ankle). Kicker Nick Folk (left knee) was also limited.
Three players were removed from the injury report on Friday. Linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder) and safeties Kyle Dugger (hamstring) and Cody Davis (knee) were not given a status for the game.
Meanwhile in Dallas, cornerback Trevon Diggs (ankle) practiced for the first time this week and was limited on Friday. The NFL leader in interceptions is listed as questionable for Sunady, along with running back Ezekiel Elliot (ribs), tackle Tyron Smith (neck), defensive end Randy Gregory (knee), and safeties Damotae Kazee (hip) and Donovan Wilson (groin). Dorance Armstrong (ankle) is the only player ruled out for the Cowboys.
