New England Patriots

FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS - SEPTEMBER 13: A view of New England Patriots helmets before the game between the Patriots and the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium on September 13, 2020 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The Patriots will be without at least two of their starting offensive linemen Sunday against the Texans. On defense, the secondary could be thin for the game as well.

On Friday’s injury report, the Patriots ruled out tackle Trent Brown (calf) and guard Shaq Mason (abdomen) for Sunday’s game. Neither player had practiced all week.

In addition, the Patriots have been without tackle Isaiah Wynn and guard Mike Onwenu, who remain on COVID-IR. No update has been given on their respective statuses, but it is rare for players to miss a full week of practice then play on Sunday.

Cornerback Shaun Wade (concussion) also won’t play. The rookie has been inactive all season after being acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Ravens at the end of training camp.

Meanwhile, eight players are listed as ‘questionable,’ including three starting defensive backs. Jonathan Jones (ankle), Jalen Mills (hamstring), and Kyle Dugger (hamstring) were limited throughout the week for New England.

The other questionable players are linebackers Ja’Whaun Bentley (shoulder), Kyle Van Noy (groin), and Ronnie Perkins (ankle), safety and special teams starter Cody Davis (knee) and kicker Nick Folk (left knee).

On Houston’s side, three of the four players listed on their injury report are former Patriots. Running back Rex Burkhead (hip) won’t play in this game, while wide receiver Danny Amendola (thigh) and tackle Marcus Cannon (back) are questionable. The Texans also officially ruled out quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has yet to play this season and is demanding a trade from the team.
