The Boston Red Sox have set their roster for Tuesday night's Wild Card clash with the New York Yankees. There's only one absence that raises an eyebrow: designated hitter/outfielder J.D. Martinez will not be available.

Martinez had to exit the Red Sox' come-from-behind win over the Washington Nationals, after appearing to injure himself tripping over second base while jogging to the outfield. Martinez sprained his ankle, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.

Lefty Chris Sale is also not on the roster for Tuesday's game, after throwing 62 pitches out of the bullpen against the Nationals on Sunday. Nathan Eovaldi is scheduled to start Tuesday night against the Yankees' Gerrit Cole.

It's important to note that the rosters reset each round, so this is only for one night. But the Red Sox will have to hope they can make-do without Martinez for one do-or-die game, and get him back if they can defeat the Yankees and advance.
