Quarterback headlines list of 10 brought in for tryout with Patriots

The Patriots just wrapped up the most chaotic part of the NFL schedule when it comes to rosters, trimming down to 53 players last week. They then proceeded to add 16 players to the practice squad.

However, that doesn’t mean they’re done when it comes to roster construction. According to the NFL wire, the team had 10 free agents in for workouts on Tuesday. Here’s a look at who was in the building.

• QB Devlin ‘Duck’ Hodges

  The Steelers signed Hodges to the practice squad as an undrafted rookie out of Samford in 2019. However, injuries at the quarterback position led to him making six starts that season, with the team going 3-3 in those games. He stayed as a backup in 2020, then spent this summer in camp with the Rams.

• FB Nick Bawden

  Share

  The Patriots already have two fullbacks on their team, but that's not going to stop them from continuing to explore depth. Bawden was drafted by the Lions in 2018 under then-head coach Matt Patricia, who is now in New England. He's played in 10 career NFL games, all in 2019.

• WR Connor Wedington

  Share

  Wedington is an undrafted rookie who spent the summer with the Seahawks. He played both receiver and running back in college at Stanford.
• TE Miller Forristall

  Share

  A teammate of Mac Jones at Alabama, Forristall went undrafted after starting at tight end during the Tide's 2020 title run.

• TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart

  Share

  Joining Forristall as a tight end workout was Pittsburgh product Nakia Griffin-Stewart. Griffin-Stewart was with the Giants for both the joint practices last month, and the preseason finale.

• C Lamont Gaillard

  A sixth-round pick by the Cardinals in 2019, Gaillard was inactive for the entirety of his rookie year. He played in 13 games last year, starting two. After being released by Arizona in late July, he spent the rest of training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals.
• G Jake Eldrenkamp

  Share

  Eldrenkamp spent the 2019 offseason with the Patriots, signing a futures contract following the Super Bowl then being released before spring practices. He made his NFL debut with the Colts in 2020, after spending time on the Browns and Rams practice squads.

• DT Destiny Vaeao

  Share

  Vaeao entered the league as a UDFA with the Eagles in 2016. He played in 33 games over three seasons, but hasn't been on an NFL roster since September 2019.

• S Grayland Arnold

  Share

  A UDFA from Baylor, Arnold played in six games for Philly last year, recording a pass breakup. The Patriots got a close look at him during joint practices with the Eagles last month.
• DB Joshua Moon

  Share

  Moon was a UDFA out of Georgia State in 2019. He's spent offseason time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle Seahawks.
