Report: Mac Jones signs his first shoe deal
Although it seems unlikely at this point that Mac Jones will be named the Patriots starting quarterback for Week 1, he is already getting the QB1 treatment off the field. On Monday, it was reported that Jones has signed his first shoe endorsement deal.
According to Mac Jones has a new shoe deal. Not with Nike, not with Adidas, not with Under Armour.
He's signed a multiyear footwear and apparel deal with Nobull, a favorite of CrossFit athletes that's been quietly assembling an endorsement roster across sports. https://t.co/sB9unD6yGm
This isn’t a typical shoe deal for a team sport athlete. Nobull caters to training and CrossFit instead of in-game athletic wear. Bhasin writes “Unlike its larger peers, Nobull is positioning itself as a training and workout shoe. Its roots are in CrossFit, a high-intensity fitness regimen, and it’s been adopted by many of the most prominent participants in an annual fitness competition with events such as weightlifting and gymnastics. It’s so ingrained in the community that it became the title sponsor of the CrossFit Games this year.”
Bhasin adds that Nobull’s “shoes never appear in competition on the football field.” That being said, Jones is the second NFL quarterback to rep their brand, after Carolina’s Will Grier. Jones did wear a Nobull shirt at his press conference following Sunday night’s game.
Question: What is your expectation on what your role will be?

Mac Jones: “Like I always say, I’m focused on today. I think there’s a lot of stuff I can clean up. I held the ball a little too long…I’m here to help in any way I can. I’m going to be ready whenever my time comes.” pic.twitter.com/GdBelMNeiz
In a statement Monday morning, Jones said, “Nobull is different. Combine that with the fact that they are a Boston-based company, the partnership felt serendipitous.”
This is one of Jones’ first major endorsements since getting drafted back in April. Jones is part of the last group of college athletes who were unable to sign such deals in college, with the new NIL rules being passed this spring.
