The Patriots will be bringing one less player with them to New York for Sunday’s preseason finale against the Giants. On Friday afternoon, ESPN’s Field Yates reported the Patriots have waived tight end Kahale Warring.

This move ends a three-day stint in New England for Warring. The 24-year-old was claimed off waivers from the Houston Texans on Tuesday.

Warring did participate in one practice with the Patriots on Wednesday, but was absent both Thursday and Friday.

Without Warring, the Patriots’ tight end room is back down to four players in Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, Matt LaCosse, and Devin Asiasi. With Smith, Henry, and LaCosse all dealing with injuries, Warring’s departure opens the door for an expanded workload for Asiasi Sunday night. We could also see fullback Jakob Johnson get some snaps at tight end, as he did last week.
