David Andrews misses practice for birth of baby boy, not injury
Great news all-around for the Patriots and center David Andrews. Not only is Andrews’ recent injury not considered serious, but it wasn’t even the reason he’s missed the last two practices: in fact, Andrews and his wife MacKenzie welcomed a baby boy, James Ford Andrews, into the world on Monday.
“Words don’t really do it justice what the last couple of days have been like,” Andrews said in an Instagram post announcing James’ birth on Tuesday. “But I do know this we are so blessed. I also know that my wife is as tough as nails. James Ford welcome to earth. Love ya son Go Dawgs.”
We’ll see if Andrews returns to the Patriots in time for Thursday’s preseason opener against the Washington Football Team at Gillette Stadium. The Patriots are off Wednesday and Friday.
James Ferentz has seen the bulk of snaps at center in Andrews’ absence. Ted Karras has also gotten some work at center and left guard as he works his way back from a lower body injury.
