With starting long snapper Joe Cardona expected to miss a portion of the preseason following a training camp injury on Sunday, the Patriots signed a replacement Monday afternoon.

As first reported by The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride, the team has added 29-year-old Brian Khoury to the roster. Khoury was present at the Patriots’ Monday afternoon practice.

A graduate of Division-III Carnegie Mellon, Khoury has spent time with the Baltimore Ravens and the XFL’s DC Defenders. He’s never appeared in an NFL game.

In a corresponding move, the Patriots released quarterback Jake Dolegala. Dolegala had been claimed on waivers early in practice to be the fourth quarterback after Jarrett Stidham underwent back surgery.
