Red Sox send Michael Chavis to Pirates for pitcher Austin Davis
The Boston Red Sox made two last-minute deals at the 2021 MLB trade deadline. In addition to adding reliever Hansel Robles from the Minnesota Twins, they are sending first baseman Michael Chavis to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-handed pitcher Austin Davis, according to Keith Law.
Davis had a 5.59 ERA in 10 appearances for the Pirates, with 11 strikeouts in 9.2 innings.
Chavis had been batting .190 with two home runs in 79 at-bats for the Red Sox. In 168 total games for Boston, Chavis hit 25 home runs and posted a .709 OPS.
