WATCH: Jarren Duran hits ‘inside-the-park home run’
Jarren Duran entered Wednesday night in the first ‘slump’ of his major league career. After picking up four hits in his first four games, the 24-year-old had been hitless in his last three.
However, in the fourth inning of Wednesday night’s game against Toronto, Duran broke out of his slump in a big way. The lefty lined a 1-2 curveball back up the middle, and the ball ended up rolling all the way to the center field triangle. Duran took full advantage, coming all the way around to score on what was first believed to be an inside-the-park home run – but later changed to a triple with an error by the center fielder.
Thesis: Jarren Duran is fast.

As pumped up as Duran was after crossing the play, NESN play-by-play announcer Dave O’Brien may have been more excited. You can hear it in his voice, as he delivers the line ‘here comes the kid!’ as Duran rounds third.
Here’s two more angles of the play, this time following Duran around the bases.

Duran’s ‘triple’ also scored Kevin Plawecki, who had singled to lead off the inning. At the time, it gave the Red Sox a 4-1 lead, which ended up being the final score.
