Patriots bring back QB Jake Dolegala via waivers from Green Bay
The Patriots have shored up their depth at the bottom of the quarterback depth chart. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, they are claiming quarterback Jake Dolegala off waivers from the Green Bay Packers.
This will be Dolegala’s third stint in New England in less than two seasons. The Patriots originally signed Dolegala to the practice squad in September 2020, then released him from the practice squad in November.
New England later signed Dolegala to a futures contract in January 2021 before waiving him in April. The Packers then signed him as a free agent in June.
Dolegala, 24, began his career with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The move comes as Patriots QB Jarrett Stidham began 2021 training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Cam Newton, Mac Jones, and Brian Hoyer were all present for the Patriots on the first day of camp on Wednesday in Foxborough.
