Boston Red Sox

BOSTON, MA - MARCH 30: The original Fenway Park façade is seen during a media availability at Fenway Park ahead of Opening Day on March 30, 2021 in Boston, Massachusetts.

It’s hard to imagine things could get more embarrassing for the Yankees after Sunday afternoon’s loss to the Red Sox. They were swept at Fenway and didn’t look particularly competitive at any point in the series. With the three losses, they’re now 0-6 against Boston his year, and find themselves in fourth place in the AL East – just a spot above the lowly Baltimore Orioles.

However, the team couldn’t even leave Fenway Park without incident. On their way out, the team’s equipment truck clipped a garage door knocking it out of its frame. Pictures quickly made their way to Twitter.

Of course, the comments didn’t disappoint. There was a range of jokes, from references to box trucks regularly hitting bridges on Storrow Drive to the movie The Town.

However, perhaps the best comment was from user Bob Heaning, who went outside the box with his reply.

Perhaps Bob is on to something here. The Yankees’ offense has struggled throughout the season, and as a team they’ve scored the third-fewest runs in the American League. Maybe it wouldn’t be the worst idea for them to take this as a sign from the universe, leave that truck behind, and pick up some new gear before their next game.
