The Boston Bruins and New York Islanders will begin their second-round series at TD Garden on Saturday night at 8 p.m., the team and NBC confirmed Thursday afternoon.

The announcement comes with three of the league’s eight first-round series yet to be decided, and though Game 1 could serve as a conflict with either a possible Game 6 between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens or Game 7 between the Hurricanes and Predators, the NHL has decided to kick things off with a bang with a ‘near full capacity’ TD Garden on Saturday night.
The Bruins punched their round-two ticket after making quick work of the Capitals, while the Isles advanced to the second round behind a 5-3 win over the Penguins at Nassau Coliseum on Wednesday night.
Boston went 3-3-2 against the Islanders in 2021, but captured all three of their wins after the trade deadline. This will be the first postseason meeting between the franchises since the 1983 Eastern Conference finals.
The rest of the second-round schedule will be announced at a later date.
