Following the Boston Red Sox’ loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, the team optioned infielder Michael Chavis to Triple-A Worcester. Boston officially announced the move on Monday.

Chavis came off the bench in all three games against the Phillies during the Red Sox’ weekend series in Philadelphia. He went 0-for-2 at the plate with one strikeout.

The 25-year-old has played 11 games in the major leagues so far in the 2021 season. He’s batting .273 with a home run and four doubles with a .758 OPS in 33 plate appearances.
