This offseason was a busy one for Patriots running back James White. Not only did he navigate unrestricted free agency for the first time in his career, he did so while finishing up his college degree.
“It means a lot,” White said of finishing his degree while speaking with Boston media on Tuesday. “Going to college, your goal is to – first of all – end up with a college degree. And being a college athlete, you hope you get an opportunity to play in the NFL. And I’m fortunate to still be playing currently. I don’t take that for granted either.”
White finished his degree in Life Sciences Communication over the last year, and was helped by being able to take classes from home due to the pandemic. He officially graduated from the University of Wisconsin on Sunday.
The inspiration for White to finish his degree came from his parents, who he said “would always ask me if I was taking classes and when I was going to get it done.”
