Jason McCourty bids farewell to New England
A Patriot for the last three seasons, Jason McCourty has taken his talents to South Beach on a one-year deal with the Dolphins.
But McCourty’s move to a divisional rival for a reunion with former Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores didn’t come without one last look back and thank you for the opportunities seized and memories made during his New England tenure.
“Thank you to RKK and Coach Belichick for giving me a chance to wear the Patriots uniform,” McCourty’s post, shared from the McCourty Twins Twitter account, began. “For the past three seasons I’ve gotten a chance to live out a childhood dream, playing alongside my brother while winning a championship and building lifelong friendships. Thank you to everyone within the New England Patriots organization. I will miss the conversations with Ms. Martha at the security box on my way into the facility, my laughs with Ms. Paula in the dining room and countless others…
“Pats Nation, thank you for welcoming me with open arms. It was not only a privilege to compete alongside my teammates but also to serve the New England community through organizations and causes that I hold dear. New England will always be a special place for myself and my family! But the journey is not over. With that said I got my sun screen ready and I’ve already started hydrating! 305 BABY!!”

In action for all 16 games last year, McCourty made 11 starts and finished with 41 tackles and three passes defended, and totaled 152 tackles, two interceptions, and 19 passes defensed in his 44 games with the Patriots. McCourty also came through with an incredible break-up of a potential Brandin Cooks touchdown in the Patriots’ Super Bowl LIII win in 2019.
