Jayson Tatum tied a Celtics franchise record with 60 points, and in the process led the team on a historic comeback from down 32 points to beat the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, 143-140.
Tatum shot 54.1 percent from the field (20-for-37) and also pulled down eight rebounds and five assists. He shot 15-for-17 (88.2 percent) from the line.
The Celtics trailed 65-33 with 3:58 left in the second quarter. They outscored San Antonio 110-75 from that point on.
Tatum tied Larry Bird’s Celtics franchise record for points in a single game with the 60-point effort. Bird scored 60 points in a 126-115 Celtics win over the Atlanta Hawks back on March 12, 1985.
