• Bucs select Washington LB Joe Tryon with 32nd pick

  Tampa adds to its already-impressive linebacker room. We'll see if they add to the offense around Tom Brady on day 2.

• Ravens select Penn State DL Jayson Oweh with 31st pick

  Baltimore addresses both sides of the ball in the first round. Oweh had some of the best measurables and Pro Day results of any prospect in the draft, but he's relatively raw and didn't produce a single sack for Penn State in the 2020 season. If Oweh can markedly improve his technique, he could become a stud edge rusher.

• Bills select Miami DL Gregory Rousseau with 30th pick

  The other Miami edge rusher goes in the first round, after all. The Bills' front seven gets a little beefier.
• Packers select Georgia CB Eric Stokes with 29th pick

  Green Bay decides to stack the secondary in the first round. It appears Packers fans will have to wait until at least day 2 to see if their team bolsters its offense, with the sudden Aaron Rodgers saga hanging in the balance.

• Saints select Houston DL Payton Turner with 28th pick

  Share

  New Orleans seemed to need secondary help and there were still some good defensive backs available, but they go for a high-upside edge rusher in Turner. We highlighted Turner as a player of interest for the Patriots.

• Ravens select Minnesota WR Rashod Bateman with 27th pick

  Baltimore lands another new weapon for Lamar Jackson. Bateman has good size and the versatility to play both inside and outside. He has a chance to be a good complementary piece to Marquise Brown and tight end Mark Andrews, if not better than that.
• Browns select Northwestern CB Greg Newsome II with 26th pick

  Cleveland gets a dynamic corner to pair with Denzel Ward in the secondary. The Browns have built one of the NFL's more talented rosters. Ultimately it'll come down to how far Baker Mayfield can take them. But their defense certainly isn't lacking in talent.

• Jaguars select Clemson RB Travis Etienne with 25th pick

  Etienne is reunited with his quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. The Jags could stand to add weapons around their new franchise QB, and Etienne should be a playmaker for them in a variety of ways.

• Steelers select Alabama RB Najee Harris with 24th pick

  Seems like everyone saw this coming eventually. The Steelers were rumored to be in on a running back high in the draft, and they nab the best one available. Harris has bell-cow potential in the Steelers offense.
• Vikings select Virginia Tech OT Christian Darrisaw with 23rd pick

  Darrisaw rated as a first-round prospect all along. Getting him at 23 is good value for the Vikings, who may have their left tackle of the future.

• Titans select Virginia Tech CB Caleb Farley with 22nd pick

  The big concern with Farley is health. He recently underwent major surgery, which is ostensibly one of the reasons he slipped to No. 22. But he has just as much upside as the other two CBs to come off the board in the first round, Jaycee Horn and Patrick Surtain II.

• Colts select Michigan DL Kwity Paye with 21st pick

  One of the most athletically gifted and well-rounded defensive linemen in the draft falls into the 20s. Indy has a chance to have a scary front-seven if Paye pans out, adding him to DT DeForest Buckner and LB Darius Leonard.
• Giants select Florida WR Kadarius Toney with 20th pick

  Share

  Toney has a chance to be an elite slot receiver at the NFL level, one who can make big plays in additions to tough plays over the middle of the field. We'll see if he can stay durable, but the Giants should have a good weapon for Daniel Jones here.

• Washington Football Team select Kentucky LB Jamin Davis with 19th pick

  Davis has a unique build for his position, but freakish athleticism and a skill set for the modern passing defense. He has a chance to be a stud for the WFT if everything goes right.

• Dolphins select Miami DL Jaelan Phillips with 18th pick

  Share

  The former Miami Hurricanes edge rusher doesn't have to go far. Phillips has elite athletic tools and some of the most upside of any defensive prospect. Brian Flores should have fun with him.
• Raiders select Alabama OL Alex Leatherwood with 17th pick

  Share

  The first pick of the night that feels like a reach. Virginia Tech's Christian Darrisaw remains on the board at tackle. He certainly has a lot of big-game experience and has good upside.

• Cardinals select Tulsa LB Zaven Collins with 16th pick

  Share

  Collins has a chance to be an excellent middle linebacker for the Cards, and fills an immediate need.

• Patriots select Alabama QB Mac Jones with 15th pick

  Jones becomes the highest pick ever for the Patriots under Bill Belichick. He was the only QB that Belichick saw in person himself at his Pro Day. And it didn't require a trade-up.

• Jets select USC OL Alijah Vera-Tucker with 14th pick

  The Patriots were linked to Vera-Tucker in various reports, rumors, and mock drafts. So it appears the Jets may have jumped the Pats for Vera-Tucker's services. He can play guard or tackle in front of Zach Wilson.

• Jets jump Patriots for 14th pick

  Share

  The New York Jets made a trade with the Minnesota Vikings for the 14th pick. But they have a quarterback already. So who's their target?

• Chargers select Northwestern OT Rashawn Slater with 13th pick

  Share

  Slater projects to be a good, well-rounded tackle at the NFL level and he should be able to protect Justin Herbert's blind side for a number of years if all goes well. The Chargers had the luxury of not having to take a QB, so they take one of the best linemen available.
• Cowboys select Penn State LB Micah Parsons with 12th pick

  The Cowboys slide down a couple of picks and end up with the best linebacker in the draft, arguably the best defensive player. Parsons is an athletic freak with superstar potential at middle linebacker for Dallas. Offensive help for Dak Prescott will have to wait.

• Bears select Ohio State QB Justin Fields with 11th pick

  And with that, only Alabama's Mac Jones remains for the top QB prospects. The Bears gave up a haul that includes next year's first-round pick to get Fields. They've traded up for a QB before and it blew up in their face. Fields is a terrific athlete who excelled against high-end competition, but we'll see if he can put it all together in the pros.

• Bears jump to No. 11 from 20

  The Chicago Bears have traded up to the 11th pick from No. 20 with the Giants. So they are almost certainly picking a quarterback.
• Eagles select Alabama WR DeVonta Smith with 10th pick

  Share

  The Eagles get a potentially All-Pro weapon for quarterback Jalen Hurts, jumping their NFC East rival Giants to make it happen. And with that, QBs Justin Fields and Mac Jones have officially both slipped out of the top-10.

• Cowboys trade No. 10 pick to Eagles

  Share

  The Philadelphia Eagles have moved up from the 12th pick to 10th in a trade with the Cowboys. But is Philly taking a quarterback, even though they appear to be building around Jalen Hurts?

• Broncos select Alabama CB Patrick Surtain II with ninth pick

  Share

  Right after Jaycee Horn breaks the seal on cornerbacks, the son of former NFL cornerback Patrick Surtain becomes the new Broncos No. 1 corner of the future. This means that Ohio State QB Justin Fields and Alabama QB Mac Jones are still on the board...
• Panthers select South Carolina CB Jaycee Horn with eighth pick

  The plot really begins to thicken with the remaining two first-round QBs. Horn is a bit of a surprise as the first cornerback to come off the board, as Alabama's Patrick Surtain II was expected to be that. Horn could be the next Stephon Gilmore for Carolina.

• Lions select Oregon OT Penei Sewell with seventh pick

  Sewell slips slightly after the Bengals and Dolphins opt for top wide receiver prospects. Widely expected to be the first offensive lineman off the board, Sewell should be an excellent left tackle for a long time in the NFL.

• Dolphins select Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle with sixth pick

  Tua Tagovailoa gets a big-time weapon to group with WR DeVante Parker and TE Mike Gesicki. Compared to Chiefs wideout Tyreek Hill, Waddle can play inside or outside and has a chance to be an explosive big-play receiver at the NFL level. The question, now, is where Waddle's teammate, DeVonta Smith, lands.
• Bengals select LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase with fifth pick

  Chase becomes the first of a few dynamic receivers to come off the board in the first round. Joe Burrow could still use offensive line help, which is why we had the Bengals taking Oregon tackle Penei Sewell in our mock drafts. But Chase has a chance to be an elite weapon to pair with Tee Higgins in a potentially high-powered offense in Cincy.

• Falcons select Florida TE Kyle Pitts with fourth pick

  Pitts is arguably the best tight end prospect in NFL Draft history. So fittingly, he's drafted higher than any TE in history. He is a big, fast, athletic receiving tight end who has the tools to block, too. He should be a dynamic weapon no matter who is throwing him the ball in Atlanta.

• 49ers select North Dakota State QB Trey Lance with third pick

  The Niners decide to go with Lance over more experienced college QBs like Mac Jones or Justin Fields. Now we find out where those two fall. Lance's experience running a pro style offense under center for North Dakota State makes hima. good fit for what Kyle Shanahan and the Niners want. The question is, does he have a chance to play in his rookie season? -- MD
• Jets select BYU QB Zach Wilson with second pick

  OK, Jets, let's try this again! Three years after drafting Sam Darnold third overall, the New York Football Jets land at No. 2 overall and go with Wilson. The talent is certainly there. We'll see if the Jets can build a good team around him, and if the team develops them the way their fans hope. It's no guarantee with this franchise. -- MD

• Jaguars select Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence with the first pick

  The Jags get their franchise quarterback. Lawrence certainly has the talent to light it up in the NFL and win a lot of games, regardless of what's around him. The only question is how he plays when he gets to the biggest stages. -- Matt Dolloff

• Patriots not expected to trade for QB Jimmy Garoppolo any time soon

  According to Ian Rapoport, the Patriots aren't expected to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo, not tonight or "anytime soon."
  
  Rapoport cites the Patriots' lack of "room to fit the contract" as ostensibly the main reason a trade won't get done. Garoppolo is due cash earnings of $24.9 million and $25.6 million over the next two seasons.
  
  That all but dashes any hopes of the Pats making an aggressive draft-night move to bring Garoppolo back to New England. But this doesn't necessarily rule out that the 49ers could eventually release Garoppolo and make him a free agent. At that point, the Patriots could bring him in on a deal that costs far less than $50.5 million over two years. But if the Patriots are going to make a major move at quarterback this weekend, it will have to be a high draft pick.
• Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay

  In the most shocking development of the day so far, Aaron Rodgers has reportedly told the Packers that "he does not want to return to the team, per Adam Schefter. Schefter added that the Packers do not want to budge and plan on holding onto Rodgers, creating quite the stalemate.

• Is the market heating up for Jimmy G?

  Our own Tony Massarotti (and his Apple Watch) are reporting that the New Orleans Saints are 'lurking' in the Jimmy Garoppolo discussion. Garoppolo and Saints' head coach Sean Payton are both represented by the same agent, Don Yee. 
  
  Mazz added that he believes Garoppolo, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, and that the Patriots are one of a few teams who have discussed a restructured deal with the 30-year-old QB.

• Rodgers MVP on the move?

  According to Jay Glazer, 'a few teams' have called the Green Bay Packers inquiring about reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers. The most notable of those is the 49ers, per Bill Mitchell.
  
  However, this all appears to be a long-shot effort as best, with Tom Pelissero saying there is a "zero percent chance" Rodgers is moved.
• No QB for the Patriots?

  Could the Patriots pass on drafting a quarterback entirely for the second straight year? According to NFL Network's Mike Giardi, the team has "no qualms" with having Cam Newton and Jarrett Stidham as their top QBs for the start of training camp.
  
  Of course, this could also be posturing by the Patriots, trying to convince another team to take less to let them move up.

• Saints trying to trade up to top-10?

  If the Patriots wanted to trade into the top-10, there's a late-breaking surprise team in the mix to jump them. According to top NFL insider Jay Glazer, the New Orleans Saints are "trying to move alllll the way up into Top 10."
  
  Glazer doesn't just report everything he's told. If he says it, then it's extremely likely to be true. We'll see if the Saints actually make the move. The question is: are they not targeting a quarterback?
  
  Update: Glazer later said the Saints are NOT trying to trade up for a quarterback.
  
  Update 2: ESPN's Dianna Russini says there is one quarterback besides Trevor Lawrence "who would change their minds if he was still available."

• Chances of Garoppolo trade “remote”

  According to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday morning, "multiple teams" are expected to call the 49ers about the availability of Jimmy Garoppolo - but one source said the possibility of a trade is "remote."
  
  It's unclear whether the source meant the chances of a trade were low just for Thursday night, or at all.
• Panthers still in on a quarterback?

  ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Thursday that the Carolina Panthers did not pick up the fifth-year option for quarterback Sam Darnold, which could be an indication that they're still in the market for a QB in the first round.
  
  The Panthers currently sit at No. 8 in the first round, seven spots ahead of the Patriots.
