What is it about Sunday matinées and the Boston Celtics?
The Green dropped to 0-4 on the season when they start early on a Sunday, dropping a 125-104 loss to the Charlotte Hornets in the Queen City. Four Charlotte players scored 20 or more points – Devonte’ Graham (24), P.J. Washington (22), old friend Terry Rozier (21) and Miles Bridges (20) – in a game where the Hornets led by 10 after one, 11 at the half, 12 after three and rarely seemed in danger of losing control.
They hit their first six shots and had a 15-point lead just over five minutes into the game. Charlotte players also converted their first five attempts from behind the arc on the way to making 21-of-43 (49 percent) for the contest.
The Hornets handed out 22 assists on 24 made field goals in the first half, only turning the ball over three times. They’d finish with 39 assists (Rozier with a game-high 11), nearly becoming the first team to post 40 dimes against Boston since Sacramento in December 1996.
