Boston Bruins

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy joined 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher and Rich on Tuesday to talk hockey. Cassidy spoke to the guys for the first time since the Bruins’ surprise acquisition of winger Taylor Hall ahead of the NHL trade deadline – and revealed his spot in the lineup.

Cassidy confirmed what most Bruins observers expected: Hall will play left wing next to No. 2 center David Krejci. In addition, Hall’s arrival will move David Pastrnak back to the No. 1 line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. Craig Smith will play right wing with Hall and Krejci.

Here’s how the Bruins’ top-9 forwards stack up ahead of Hall’s Bruins debut, which comes Tuesday night in an immediate matchup against his former team, the Buffalo Sabres.

Brad Marchand – Patrice Bergeron – David Pastrnak
Taylor Hall – David Krejci – Craig Smith
Nick Ritchie – Charlie Coyle – Jake DeBrusk

In addition, Cassidy said that Jeremy Swayman will get the start in goal on Tuesday, with Tuukka Rask eyeing Thursday against the Islanders for a return. Defenseman Charlie McAvoy will be a game-time decision, while Kevan Miller will be back on the blue line.

The Bruins and Sabres face off at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at TD Garden. Get the call of the game on 98.5 The Sports Hub, starting with pregame at 6:30.
