Report: Josh McDaniels in attendance at Florida Pro Day

A day after attending the Alabama Pro Day with Bill Belichick, Josh McDaniels has made his way to Gainesville. According to Jim Nagy, McDaniels is in attendance for the Florida Gators Pro Day on Wednesday.

Last season, Florida had the number one passing offense in the nation, averaging 378.6 yards per game through the air. An infusion of some of that talent could go a long way for a Patriots team who struggled to throw the ball at times in 2020.

Who specifically might McDaniels have his eyes on? Here’s a look at the Gators’ offensive players that will be working out on Wednesday.

• QB Kyle Trask

  Somewhere between the established top five quarterbacks and project QBs sits Kyle Trask, who could go anywhere from the first to the third round. His style of play is rare in the modern NFL - a stoic quarterback who offers little if anything in terms of mobility. He has a strong arm, but there's questions about how much he was aided by throwing to the top pass-catcher in the draft, Kyle Pitts.

• WR Kadarius Toney

  Kadarius Toney is the kind of fast, quick, shifty wide receiver that's becoming so popular in the modern game. He'd certainly be a fit in the Patriots offense. If they want to draft him, they'd either have to reach a bit at 15, or trade back into the end of the first round.

• TE Kyle Pitts

  As mentioned above, Kyle Pitts is the best pass-catcher in this years draft. The reality is, he's so good, it's worth mentioning twice. He's a generational tight end talent, and will likely be off the board well before where the Patriots are scheduled to pick at 15.
• G/C Brett Heggie

  Share

  A four year starter for the Gators, Heggie spent considerable time at both guard spots his first three seasons, before moving to center as a senior. The Patriots like versatility on the offensive line, so he could be a fit. He's currently projected as a high-priority UDFA.

• OT Stone Forsythe

  Share

  At 6-foot-7, 329 pounds, Stone Forsythe towers over opposing pass rushers, and tossed around just about any defender he got his hands on during his two years as the Gators' starting left tackle. However, his lack of mobility could hurt him at the next level, especially in more modern schemes. If he plays in the NFL, it will likely be at right tackle. He's currently projected as a UDFA.
