The second Alabama Pro Day takes place on Tuesday, and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will almost certainly be in attendance to scout players from one of his favorite college programs.
And can you blame him? Belichick’s relationship with Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban is well-documented. And like most years, Alabama is coming off yet another national championship and have several players expected to go in the first two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Patriots have drafted an Alabama player in each of the past two drafts, and five total in the past nine drafts going back to 2012: LB Dont’a Hightower, LB Xzavier Dickson, CB Cyrus Jones, RB Damien Harris, and LB Anfernee Jennings. Though the results have been mixed, it’s reasonable to expect Belichick to have real interest in someone from the Crimson Tide program.
It’s possible that the first ‘Bama player to come off the board is quarterback Mac Jones, who could very well be drafted before the Pats select at No. 15. Other top prospects, like WR Devonta Smith and CB Patrick Surtain II, may require the Patriots to trade up to have a chance at getting them. Additionally, they won’t all actually work out on Tuesday. But it’s certainly worth knowing the below names whether they become Patriots or not, because some of them should turn into premier players at the NFL level.
