Celtics make deadline deal for Magic’s Evan Fournier

The Celtics have actually made a move at the 2021 NBA trade deadline. As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, they are acquiring guard Evan Fournier from the Orlando Magic.

In exchange for Fournier, the Celtics sent two second-round picks and guard Jeff Teague to Orlando. Teague, who has already been told not to report to the Magic, will be bought out and become a free agent.

Fournier is averaging 19.7 points per game while averaging 30.3 minutes. He’s shooting 46.1 percent from the field, the 10th-best mark among shooting guards. In his career, he’s averaged 18.2 points and 2.3 three-pointers per 36 minutes.

In Boston, Fournier should provide some much-needed scoring off the bench. Among Celtics players with nine starts or fewer, Robert Williams leads the way with 7.7 points per game.
