Jeff Howe talked to Toucher and Rich about what promises to be an eventful offseason for the New England Patriots. What’s Jeff hearing about Bill Belichick’s plans? What are the top priorities in Foxboro?

Howe believes Belichick will be motivated to make the Patriots a lot better after watching Tom Brady win his seventh Super Bowl, especially as the Pats enter the offseason with among the most cap space in the league.

“As a competitor, I think if you see someone you’ve been hitched to for the last 20 years go out and win a Super Bowl like that, to have the game that he had, along with Gronk, I mean, that’s got to fuel the fire even more to bounce back after a 7-9 season. And you look at the plan … they’ve got their highest first-round pick – because of the losing record – that they’ve had in over a decade. They’ve got about $60-65 million in cap space, with the ability to create more, which is a disproportionately high amount compared to the rest of the league.

“I mean, there’s 26 teams that they have double the cap space than, so they’ve got the ability to go out and spend money, and I expect them to go out there and do that.”
