The Patriots held their first workout of the 2021 with a wide receiver on Monday. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the team had Jordan Suell in for a tryout in Foxborough.
Teams cannot hold workouts with players currently under contract until the new league year begins in March, but can work with players who finished the season as free agents and are eligible for future contracts. Suell fits into that category, after spending the fall with The Spring League, a developmental football league playing in Texas.
The Generals cannot be stopped.

According to their website, The Spring League’s goal is to “serve as an instructional league and showcase for professional football talent.” Notable alumni of the league include Johnny Manziel and Kellen Winslow Jr.
Suell dominated during the month-long season. He caught four passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns in the final week of the regular season, before grabbing another four catches for 100 yards and a touchdown in the championship. It was enough to catch the eye of multiple NFL teams – in addition to the Patriots, Suell worked out for the Colts last week.
At NAIA school Southern Oregon, the 6-foot-6 Suell caught 42 passes for 834 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior in 2019. He told his hometown newspaper back in December his goal is to get onto a NFL or CFL roster in 2021.
