It appears that for the second straight spring, Patriots fans will have to deal with constant uncertainly surrounding the previous year's starting quarterback? Remember #BradyWatch? We're now onto #CamWatch.

Hours before the Patriots season finale against the Jets last week, ESPN's Adam Schefter seemingly reported that the Patriots and Newton were ready to part ways after the season. However, in his postgame interview Bill Belichick adamantly denied that report, which was later recharacterized as not a report, but a discussion.

Now, it seems like no determination from the team is imminent on if Newton and the Patriots have a future together. According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Patriots are a "long way from all those decisions."

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the Patriots have yet to make up their mind on Newton. They are traditionally meticulous, and it's unrealistic to think they would reach a decision on a position as crucial as quarterback in just a week's time. However, the Schefter confusion from Week 17 added enough uncertainty that now an immediate decision seems possible.

Whether or not Newton will be in New England next year - fans probably won't know for some time. In the meantime, expect another few months of "will they, won't they."
