Before their Thursday night game against the Rams, the Patriots made a couple of roster moves – reshuffling the tight end position.

According to EPSN’s Field Yates, tight end Ryan Izzo has been placed on IR, with fellow tight end Devin Asiasi taking his roster spot. Asiasi  is expected to be in the lineup against the Rams.

Izzo entered last week’s Chargers game dealing with hand and hamstring injuries, then did something to his neck. He was limited all week at practice, and listed as questionable for Thursday.

The 24-year-old has been the Patriots top tight end throughout a season that’s been a rough one for the position. He had just four catches in the Patriots’ last five games. One of those was a garbage-time Hail Mary late in the loss to Houston.

Back into the lineup comes Asiasi. The rookie third-round pick was placed on IR during Week 9, but hasn’t played since Week 6. Despite playing 81 snaps over the course of five games, he’s yet to see a target in 2020.

The Patriots also removed Julian Edelman from the COVID-19 Reserve list, which he was placed on last week. However, he still remains on IR following a knee procedure he had in October. At the time, his condition was described as ‘not season ending.’
