The Boston Red Sox have added another pitcher to the mix, claiming reliever Joel Payamps off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

A 6-foot-2 righty, Payamps appeared in two games for Arizona in 2020, surrendering two hits, one earned run, and striking out two in three innings of work for the Diamondbacks. The 26-year-old Payamps has thrown seven total innings of MLB work since 2019, with a 3.86 ERA, .261 batting average against, and five strikeouts.

To make room for Payamps, the Sox designated Robert Stock for assignment. Stock appeared in 10 games for Boston in 2020, and allowed 16 hits and seven earned runs in 13.1 innings.

The Red Sox also outrighted pitchers Ryan Weber and Matt Hall to Triple-A.
