Gordon Hayward still undecided on future with Celtics

With less than 24 hours until he has to decide on his basketball future, Gordon Hayward’s mind is not yet made up.
The final year of Hayward’s contract with the Celtics is a $34 million player option. He has until 5 p.m. on Tuesday to decide to opt in or out of the deal. WCVB’s Duke Castiglione reporting that Hayward has not yet made up his mind as of 11 p.m. Monday night.
Hayward’s status has been one of the most heavily discussed elements leading into the Celtics’ offseason. There have been reports that he wants out of Boston, but that could come through him opting out and being traded. Last week, it was reported that Boston had discussed the framework of a deal to send him to Indiana.
NBA reporter Mark Murphy reported earlier on Monday that “a lot of people,” meaning GMs, are still interested in Hayward. Whether it be in a trade or free agency, the 30 year old still represents value to NBA teams.
Last season was Hayward’s best in a Celtics uniform. He averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game in 52 games. In the bubble, he started off strong before an ankle injury knocked him out for the a majority of the playoffs.
