For the second time in as many weeks, the Patriots are placing a rookie tight end on injured reserve.

ESPN’s Field Yates is reporting the team is putting third-round pick Dalton Keene on IR. A knee injury had cost Keene the last two games.

This move comes a week after the Patriots placed fellow rookie tight end Devin Asiasi on IR. There were high hopes coming into the season for the duo, but the two managed just one catch (Keene) in eight games.

Ryan Izzo is now the only tight end from the start of the season remaining on the Patriots roster. The 24-year-old has caught nine passes for 114 yards this season. Backing him up will be Jordan Thomas, who the Patriots signed off waivers on Monday.
