Report: Patriots claim tight end Jordan Thomas off waivers

Down to just one tight end with Devin Asiasi placed on injured reserve and Dalton Keene on the shelf once again, the Patriots made a move to bolster the position’s depth Monday, claiming Jordan Thomas off waivers, The Patriots have claimed TE Jordan Thomas on waivers. Thomas was waived by the Cardinals on Saturday.
With the Patriots playing tonight, that move will become official Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pound Thomas played at Mississippi State. Previous stint with Texans as well.
With the Cardinals prior to the Patriots’ waiver claim, Thomas comes to the Patriots with just one catch and three receiving yards in a four-game run with the Cards this season. That said, Thomas made the catch count, as it was a three-yard reception from Kyler Murray, and with Thomas on the field for just two offensive snaps this season.
A sixth-round pick of the Texans in 2018, the 6-foot-5 tight end’s best season came during his rookie campaign, with a career-best 20 catches, 215 yards, and four touchdowns in 16 games with Houston.
From there, a rib injury limited Thomas to just one catch in five games in 2019, and he was released after 2020 training camp.
With the Patriots playing tonight, the move will become official on Tuesday.
