Sam Darnold doubtful for Monday’s Patriots-Jets Game
By Alex Barth, 985TheSportsHub.com
Who will start at quarterback for the Jets on Monday night? Will it be a Patriots’ familiar foe, or very familiar foe?
According to NEWS: Sam Darnold not expected to start Monday night, per Gase. No practice today. Listed as doubtful. #Jets
If Darnold cannot go – which is the expectation according to Cimini – Joe Flacco would likely start for the Jets. The 35-year-old Flacco joined the Jets this offseason after spending a season in Denver. Before that, he was an 11-year starter in Baltimore.
Flacco has made two starts this year, completing 51.9-percent of his 79 passes while throwing for 397 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The Jets lost both games.
Monday night would be Flacco’s 10th career game (regular season + playoffs) against the Bill Belichick-coached Patriots. That’s the fifth-most by a single QB since Belichick joined New England in 2000. Belichick is 6-3 against Flacco. Their last meeting came in 2016, a 30-23 Patriots late-season win.
