New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton took to Instagram to make his first public comments since Saturday’s positive COVID-19 test that’s landed him on the reserve list and out of Monday’s head-to-head with the Kansas City Chiefs.

And in the event that you can’t read Newton’s preferred way of typing without going into shock, here’s a quick plain-text translation:

“I never will question God’s reasoning; just will always respond with, “Yes Lord!!” I appreciate all the love, support, and well wishes. I will take this time to get healthy and self reflect on the other amazing things that I should be grateful for. #shinethroughtheshade #notforlikesjustforlife.”

Well, at least the positive test isn’t breaking his spirit entirely.

Nevertheless, the Patriots will be down their starting quarterback on Monday, leaving the Patriots to likely roll with Brian Hoyer against Patrick Mahomes and the high-powered Chiefs. It’ll be a big loss, too, as the 31-year-old Newton has totaled 714 passing yards, 149 rushing yards, and six total touchdowns through his first three games with the Patriots.

The good news, at least in the now, is that it doesn’t appear that COVID-19 has spread through the New England room following Newton’s positive, as the Patriots had their second straight of across-the-board negative tests Sunday.

The Patriots are also taking extra precautions for their trek to Kansas City, reportedly taking two planes on their way to Missouri.
