Patriots sign former Miami linebacker to practice squad
By Matt Dolloff, 985TheSportsHub.com
The Patriots announced on Friday that they’ve signed former University of Miami linebacker Michael Pinckney to the practice squad. The team also announced that defensive tackle Xavier Williams has been released to open Pinckney’s spot.
Pinckney, 22, played at Miami from 2016-19. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound rookie racked up 267 tackles, 14.5 sacks, and three interceptions during his time at the U.
The linebacker was spotted at Patriots practice on Friday, wearing No. 48. Special teams safety Cody Davis was absent for the third straight day, and is unlikely to play against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

New England can promote two players from the practice squad before Sunday’s game, increasing the main roster to as many as 55 players. They have an open spot on the main group as of Friday afternoon.
