Jeannette Belichick, mother of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, passed away due to natural causes on Monday, as first reported by Jim McBride of the Boston Globe. She was 98 years old.

The Patriots head coach cancelled his Wednesday press conference with reporters in the wake of the news. He was the only child of Jeannette and father Stephen, who died in 2005 at age 85.

In 2015, Belichick donated to Hiram College, where his mother and father met while working there. His gift helped establish the Coach Steve Belichick Olympic Training Center and the Jeannette Munn Belichick Reading Room at the school library.

It also created the Jeannette Munn Belichick Endowed Fund, which "will provide support for the Hiram College Library in purchasing books and other resources related to foreign languages." Jeannette taught Spanish and French while working at Hiram.
