Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask issued a statement through the team on Saturday announcing that he is opting out of the season.
“I want to be with my teammates competing, but at this moment there are things more important than hockey in my life, and that is being with my family,” Rask’s statement reads in part. Read the full statement below.
GM Don Sweeney told reporters that Rask’s decision is not based on a family emergency. He confirmed that Jaroslav Halak will be the Bruins’ starting goaltender in Game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The series is currently tied 1-1.
