The Celtics' return to the NBA regular season could have gone better. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 36 points and had a key offensive foul overturned to a good basket late in the fourth quarter, as the Bucks pulled away from there and took the first game back by a final score of 119-112.

Celtics vs Bucks: Live Updates
Giannis appeared to foul out of the game after Marcus Smart drew an offensive foul, but the call was overturned and ruled a successful basket. Giannis stays at five fouls, gets the basket and hits the free throw to make it 110-107.
Jaylen Brown steps back and drains a three to put the Celtics back up one point, 99-98.

For the first time since tipoff, this game is tied. Marcus Smart sinks it and drains the and-1 off a foul by Sterling Brown, bringing the score to 80-80.
I love that Marcus Smart has the chance to be the hero on the night Celtics basketball returns. Wouldn't want to have it any other way
Jaylen Brown just took his fifth personal foul of the game. He'll need to play on restricted minutes for the rest of the night. He and Gordon Hayward were producing well together before that.
This two man game between Brown and Hayward is the most fun thing I've seen tonight. Just chemistry leading to points pic.twitter.com/boafnaiEeI

The Celtics clawed back to within six points of the Bucks to head to halftime down 64-58. A reasonably optimistic result for the C's, who got only three points out of Jayson Tatum in the half.
As rusty as the Celtics were in that first half, for them to only be down six is incredible. Hanging in there on pure effort
Star treatment: officials make a highly questionable foul call against Brad Wanamaker, who appeared to graze Giannis with his fingertip.
I enjoyed that foul call on Brad Wanamaker pic.twitter.com/KnZtuCY2oV
Bucks' ball after Marcus Smart loses it out of bounds. The Celtics are the last team to score, but remain down 55-42.
Bucks go back up double-digits, 45-35. Giannis pulls up and drains a three-pointer to increase his output to 12 points with over 32 minutes still remaining in the game.
There was, however, this pass by Marcus Smart:

Bucks lead the Celtics 33-25 after one. Boston battled back to within as little as three points after going down 15 points early. Jayson Tatum has only two points for the C's so far.
After falling down 17-2, the Celtics finished on a 23-15 run. Progress.
Marcus Smart drains a pull-up three to cut the Bucks' lead to five, 22-17. The Celtics have been on a 12-7 run since Giannis was taken off the floor.
Bucks start hot with a 15-2 lead. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton already have six points each.
4+ minutes in and the only points for the Celtics are an own-goal (?) by the Bucks
