Excuse me is that Mike Bossy out there?!
Nick Ritchie may not be the second coming of Alex Ovechkin, but he’s on the board nonetheless as the burly winger scored his first goal as a member of the Bruins on Thursday against the Stars. Watch him fire from the high slot as the puck deflects off the Stars’ Tyler Seguin, and goalie Ben Bishop can’t track the bouncing puck.
Take it any way you can get it.
The goal was just Ritchie’s ninth of the season and we really shouldn’t expect many more of these. But he certainly brings an element of size and physicality to the Bruins’ bottom-six that showed up in spurts on Tuesday against the Flames. Anytime he complements that with putting the puck in the net is a huge bonus for the Bruins.
Boston took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission at TD Garden. Brad Marchand scored his 26th of the season earlier in the period to break a 1-1 tie.
