The Patriots are making their way to Houston one banged-up squad. 18 players on a Friday injury report banged-up.

In a week headlined by an illness making its way through the New England locker room, illness remained the topic on Friday’s report, with 10 of the 18 players listed on the report dealing with the vague-yet-dreaded designation.

On the offensive side of the ball, the sick Patriots include offensive linemen Marcus Cannon, and Jermaine Eluemunor. At wideout, Phillip Dorsett is still dealing with a concussion, Julian Edelman is dealing with a shoulder injury, Mohamed Sanu’s ankle is still reeling, and wideout-in-name-alone Matthew Slater is dealing with a hamstring injury.

On defense, linebackers Jamie Collins, Dont’a Hightower, and Kyle Van Noy are dealing with the bug. Same for cornerbacks Stephon Gilmore and Joejuan Williams, as well as safety Patrick Chung (he’s also dealing with a chest and heel injury).

Beyond the sicknesses on defense, Jason McCourty is dealing with a groin injury, Ja’Whaun Bentley has a knee injury, and Nate Ebner is dealing with an ankle and back ailment. Defensive lineman Byron Cowart, meanwhile, has a head injury.

The good news is that Tom Brady and John Simon were taken off the injury report on Friday, and only one player has been ruled out for Sunday so far, and that’s tight end Ryan Izzo.
