The NFL has taken swift, decisive action against Myles Garrett and other members of both the Browns and Steelers after Thursday night’s melee highlighted by Garrett’s helmet swing to Mason Rudolph’s head.
Here’s the full punishment for each team and every player involved, per NFL VP of Football & International Communications Steelers, Browns organizations each fined $250,000.

— Garrett suspended indefinitely, minimum rest of the regular season and playoffs
— Steelers OL Maurkice Pouncey suspended three games without pay and fined an additional, undisclosed amount
— Browns DT Larry Ogunjobi suspended one game without pay and fined additional amount
The statement also reads: “Additional discipline for other players will be forthcoming through the standard accountability process, including those players that left the field to enter the fight area.” It’s unclear if those potential players include Rudolph, who appeared to escalate the incident by trying to rip Garrett’s helmet off himself.
That doesn’t excuse Garrett’s positively psychotic behavior, using Rudolph’s helmet like a sledgehammer on the QB’s head. So obviously Garrett is getting the brunt of the punishment here. It doesn’t sound like the discipline is close to over.
There’s only one clear winner: we the media. What a great day for takes and opinions on the internet. Have at it.
