By Matt McCarthy,

The Eagles could be without their best wide receiver on Sunday against the Patriots.

Alshon Jeffery was missing from the team’s practice again on Thursday as he deals with a calf injury. Jeffery did not participate in Wednesday’s session either, seriously putting his status for this weekend’s game in doubt.

Jeffery is second on the team in catches, despite missing some time earlier in the season with a calf injury. He injured his calf again in Week 9.

Should Jeffery not be able to play, that leaves Philadelphia with only three receivers on their roster who have recorded a catch this season: Nelson Agholor (32), Mack Hollins (10), and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside (2). The team also signed Jordan Matthews this week, who spent time in training camp with the Patriots last year.

Jeffery played a big role in the Eagles Super Bowl LII victory over the Patriots, hauling in a 34-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. The Eagles won the game 41-33.
