FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots starting left tackle Marshall Newhouse was not spotted at Thursday’s practice at Gillette Stadium.

Newhouse appeared on Wednesday’s injury report with an illness, so it’s likely that he’s still dealing with that. He was present but limited during Wednesday’s practice, so it’s possible that Thursday was simply a maintenance day.

If Newhouse is unable to play at the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, the Pats would turn to either Korey Cunningham or Caleb Benenoch at left tackle. Meanwhile, right tackle Marcus Cannon is progressing well from a shoulder injury as evidenced by his full participation on Wednesday.

In addition, safety Obi Melifonwu and practice squad defensive lineman Nick Thurman weren’t present during the media availability portion of Thursday’s practice.
