BOSTON – There were no pace-of-play problems today.

The Red Sox completed their suspended game with the Royals from August 7 with a 5-4 victory in 10 innings. The game resumed in the top of the 10th before concluding in the bottom of the 10th on a walkoff hit by Brock Holt.

Holt drove in Chris Owings, who pinch-ran for Christian Vazquez following his one-out double.

Left-hander Josh Taylor, who was on the mound when the game was suspended due to rain, tossed a scoreless inning to record the win.

In total, Thursday’s resumption of play took just 12 minutes after the two teams played for nearly four hours on August 7.

How we got today:

Trailing 2-0, J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Xander Bogaerts then put Boston ahead 4-2 by knocking a two-run double in the fifth.

Whit Merrifield’s RBI single in the sixth inning cut Boston’s lead to 4-3. Nicky Lopez doubled off Nathan Eovaldi in the seventh to tie the game.

The game was suspended in a 4-4 tie in the tenth inning with no outs and a 2-1 count.
