Listen above for the second of 10 commercial-free hours celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of 98.5 The Sports Hub. In the 8 a.m. hour, Toucher & Rich replay their classic interview with Charlie Sheen for the first time.
In 2011, Sheen had become the biggest story in pop culture - because of his absolute public meltdown. The former Two and a Half Men star was spotted engaging in all kinds of sex-and-drug-fueled debauchery as he was on the way out on his hit show. He was also embroiled in a legal battle with CBS, which at the time owned CBS Radio, the Sports Hub's former parent company.
So when Rich went to Sheen's live show in Boston and convinced him in the middle of the performance to come on the air with him and Fred later that night, the interview became a bit of an issue. They weren't allowed to replay the interview, which went for about an hour and a half in the wee hours of Wednesday, April 13, 2011. That is, until the 10th anniversary.
So now that the Sports Hub is under the Beasley Media Group umbrella and Sheen's escapades are way in the past, it's perfectly kosher to re-live one of the most memorable moments in the history of T&R. Listen above for a full recap and be sure to listen live all day Tuesday as the station looks back on 10 years, commercial-free until 5 p.m.
