Things are not getting better for the scuffling David Price, as the Red Sox have placed lefty David Price on the 10-day injured list due to a cyst on his left wrist.
According to the Red Sox, the 33-year-old Price underwent an MRI that revealed a TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage complex) cyst, which was was treated with a cortisone shot.
While it’s unknown just how long the issue has been hampering the 6-foot-5 Price, it’s worth noting that the man with all the cards has been going through hell over his last four starts. In just 17 innings pitched over those four starts, Price has been dummied for 30 hits (seven of which left the yard) and 20 earned runs en route to an 0-3 record.
Price was especially bad in last Sunday’s loss to the Yankees, as he surrendered nine hits and seven runs in just 2.2 innings of work, which saw his 2019 ERA balloon up to 4.36.
Hector Velazquez has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to take Price’s spot on the staff.
