Behind The Seams: Quiet trade deadline puts onus on existing Red Sox to play closer to their potential


Baseball's trading deadline came and went, and Red Sox president of baseball ops Dave Dombrowski did ... nothing. Now his team is forced to forge ahead with what they've got and Andrew Cashner as the only notable addition to the roster.

But were Dombrowski and the Red Sox' ownership justified in standing pat? At some point, the onus should be on the players they have to play closer to their potential, which few Red Sox have done this season.
