BALTIMORE – The Red Sox picked up their fourth-straight win, topping the Orioles 7-2 at Camden Yards on Saturday.
Chris Sale improved to 3-7 on the year by tossing six innings of two-run baseball. Both runs came in Sale’s final inning of work. The lefty struck out 10, walked one, and gave up six hits.
The Red Sox chased Orioles starter Dylan Bundy from the game in the sixth, tagging the righty for three runs (two earned) on eight hits. Xander Bogaerts drove in a run with a double, Brock Holt picked up a RBI single, and Sandy Leon reached on an error by Baltimore third baseman Hanser Alberto, scoring Holt to round out the three-run inning.
J.D. Martinez stayed hot, hitting a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Martinez now has 16 home runs on the year and has four homers in his last three games.
The Sox would add three runs in the ninth to put the game away. Bogaerts drove in a run on a sacrifice fly, Holt added another RBI single, and Rafael Devers took home on a Holt steal of second.
The Red Sox will go for a series sweep Sunday afternoon as Brian Johnson returns from the injured list to take the mound for Boston. The Orioles will counter with left-hander John Means (6-4, 2.60 ERA).
